Long Model Etched Commemorative Bayonet
Long Model Etched Commemorative Bayonet - unknown maker - Measuring 39.5 cm it total length (with the scabbard on), this bayonet features a 25 cm nickel-plated steel blade, with unsharpened edges, remaining bright and crisp, and having a dull tip. It is engraved "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" (In Memory of my Service Period) on the blade on one side, flanked by Army eagles and oakleaf pattern. The other side of the blade depicts the scene of officers/soldiers crossing the river on boats, flanked by Army eagles and oakleaf pattern - reflecting a soldier's branch of service. The blade retains its crossgraining, shows a light wear and exhibits scattered pitting on both sides; in addition to minor scratches, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, the blade grades near extremely fine. Crossguard with quillon and pommel exhibit light contact marks and wear, while both plates of the black synthetic grip are firmly held in place by two rivets and central pins. Accompanied by its black metal scabbard, magnetic, with frog stud, metal locket at the blade entry end, ball finial, attached to a supple black leather frog, with heavy, durable, quality stitching; scabbard and frog measuring 5.4 cm x 42.5 cm; the scabbard without dents, but with usual contact/wear marks. Better then very fine condition overall.
