In bronze, measuring 39.5 mm, without ribbon, contact marks, spotting, near very fine.
Footnote: The medal was instituted in AD1942 by King Mohammed Zahir Shah who succeeded to the throne in 1933, at the age of 19, following the assassination of his father, King Mohammed Nadir Shah. He reigned until 1973 when, with the fall of the Afghan monarchy, the award became defunct.
