Afghanistan, Kingdom. An Order of the Star, II Class Grand Officer’s Star, c.1929
(Nishan-i-Astour). Instituted 1901. Type 3. (1926-1929 issue). Constructed of Gold and silver, consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, the obverse with a central Gold medallion depicting the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Afghanistan, circumscribed by a Koran verse and class marking in Arabic, the reverse with a unique pinback in the form of an integral bracket with dual holes through which is fitted a pin with dual prongs, with Gold and silver marks in Arabic, measuring 83.11 mm (w) x 82.37 mm (h), weighing 87.6 grams, accompanied by its period original sash ribbon, measuring 720 mm in length as presented, minor material fatigue evident to the sash, otherwise in near extremely fine condition.
