(Neshaan-e shir o khorshid). Instituted in 1808. 4th Period (Post 1872). Of German manufacture, in silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a six-pointed radiant star with pebbled and ribbed rays, with six green enameled bands between the rays, the obverse with a central hand-painted enameled medallion depicting a lion and a sun, inside of a pebbled ring, the twelve o’clock ray with an integral loop connecting to a suspension ring with the a period original sash ribbon, unmarked, measuring 58.85 mm (w) x 73.61 mm (h), minor tarnishing and flecking of enamels evident, with minor material fatigue of the ribbon, otherwise in better than very fine condition.
