In bronze with green and white enamels, maker marked "ARTHUS BERTRAND" and marked "DÉPOSÉ" (Deposit) on the reverse of the integral suspension, measuring 39.5 mm (w) x 55 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, original ribbon, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Honour Medal of Syrian Merit was instituted on April 10, 1926 by the French High Commissioner in Syria. It was awarded for services to Syria or for acts of courage, in four grades: 1st Class, 2nd Class, 3rd Class and 4th Class. It was discontinued in 1953 and was replaced by the Order of Civil Merit.
