A gilded silver, five-pointed, white and green enamelled star of elaborate geometric design, with gilded, scalloped decorative designs between the star’s arms, the reverse presents the inscription in Arabic for Merit Syria, circumscribed in Arabic for Honour and Dedication, measuring 56.44 mm (w) x 69.76 mm (h), weighing 52.0 grams, on loop for suspension from period original sash, and in near extremely fine condition. Accompanied by the breast star, in silver, the reverse presents the maker’s mark for Huguenin, Le Locle, as well as the mark 925 for silver content, measuring 78.86 mm (w) x 78.54 mm (h), weighing 56.8 grams, medallion, while fully intact, has separated from the star’s plaque, and is in otherwise near extremely fine condition.
