(Arabic: وسام أمية الوطني ). Instituted on 12 July 1934. Of local manufacture, consisting of sash badge in silver, featuring of an eight pointed star, each composed of clusters of individual smooth armed rays with beaded borders, obverse centre in white enamels with a wide green enamel surround, an ornate hand filed bronze gilt overlay, measuring 68.2 mm (w) x 68 mm (h), with a swivel ring and elongated suspension loop, minor residue on reverse, on original silk sash, with toned silver, near extremely fine. Accompanied by the large star of the order, in silver featuring eight principle arms, each composed of clusters of faceted rays, obverse centre presenting a bronze gilt setting with white and green enamels, an ornate hand filed bronze gilt overlay with three red enameled stars denoting the Grand Cordon Class, reverse with dual stays and central pin assembly, measuring 91 mm (w) x 91 mm (h), with toned silver and light enamel wear, very fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
