Netherlands. A Pair of Dutch Visor Caps, c.1960
A pair of Dutch visor caps, one constructed of black wool with a high peak crown, with a matching black cap band, the insignia features the Netherlands Coat of Arms stamped into a metal plate and fixed to the centre front, featuring a lion with coronet, holding in his dexter paw a sword Argent hilted and in the sinister paw seven arrows Argent pointing and bound together, the shield is crowned with the Dutch royal crown and supported by two lions standing on a scroll Azure with the text JE MAINTIENDRAI (I SHALL MAINTAIN), the visor is constructed of Vulkanfiber, displaying a black chinstrap attached to both sides of the visor with matching gilded buttons decorated with the coat of arms, the interior is lined with a brown leather sweatband, as well as red silk that is stamped with RKD, the interior features a clear celluloid diamond bearing the remnants of the maker mark HASSAM CAP OCTROOI AANGEVRAAGD (HASSAM CAMP PATENT PENDING), measuring 23 cm (w) x 24 cm (l) x 15 cm (h), and in near extremely fine condition. A visor cap constructed of white leather, with a black wool cap band bearing the embroidered Dutch lion with coronet, holding in his dexter paw a sword Argent hilted and in the sinister paw seven arrows Argent pointing and bound together, the visor is constructed of Vulkanfiber, bearing a black chinstrap held in place by buttons on each side of the cap, the interior features a tan brown leather sweatband, lined with a blue-grey rayon, measuring 18 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 14 cm (h), and in good condition.
