Instituted 1 May 1857. Of French manufacture, in silver, consisting of eight white enameled arms, each with gilt boarders and ball finials, with green enameled laurels in each quadrant, obverse centre with Gold bow iconography with hand painted script surround GREY TOWN CIVES ERBIS REPARATAE MEMORES, reverse centre presenting a Gold star on blue enameled background, hand painted conflict and subsequent order institution dates of 1854 and 1857, adorned by attractive castle suspension with blue enamels and gilt lettering GREY - TOWN, hallmarked with boars head denoting French small silver guarantee post 1838, measuring 38 mm (w) x 53 mm (h - inclusive of castle suspension with horizontal ring), on original ribbon, with minor enamel loss to centre reverse and laurels, remains near very fine.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
