Footnote: The Loyal Edmonton Regiment traces its lineage to 1908 with the formation of the 101st Regiment, redesignated 101st Regiment (Edmonton Fusiliers) in 1909. In March 1920 it was redesignated The Edmonton Regiment. During the major reorganization of the Militia in May 1924, this unit was reorganized into two regiments, The Edmonton Fusiliers and The Edmonton Regiment later redesignated The Loyal Edmonton Regiment in July 1943 and The Loyal Edmonton Regiment (3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Light Infantry) in October 1954. It became The Loyal Edmonton Regiment (4th PPCLI) in 1970. This unit recruited 9th, 49th, 51st and 63rd Battalions Canadian Expeditioonary Force, of which the 49th Battalion saw action in France and Flanders as a unit of 3rd Canadian Battalion.
