Footnote: Colonel Joseph Brosseau was a member of the long-standing Brosseau military family but is not a descendant of the first Commandant of the 85th Regiment. Following high school, he entered the Polytechnic Institute and became an engineer. He was employed by the City of Montreal, where he had a long career and became Director of the Roads Department. Brossard served with Le Regiment de Maisonneuve for many years and became its Commander. His civil duties prevented him from being part of the active army but he agreed to form and control the Second Battalion of the Regiment during the Second World War. He received his Colonial Auxiliary Forces Decoration while still in the rank of Major, by Government Order 63 in 1932, with Le Regiment de Maisonneuve.
