Cap Badge: brass gilt, maker marked "P.W. ELLIS & CO. 1916" on the reverse, 43.7 mm x 53.5 mm, one of two lugs intact; and Collar Tab Pair: brass gilt, maker marked "J.R. GAUNT MONTREAL" on their reverses, 30 mm x 36.5 mm each, intact lugs. Near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Battalion was raised and mobilized in Toronto, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916. The Battalion sailed March 28, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.A. Cooper with a strength of 31 officers and 841 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 3rd Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920. The badges presented here were never authorized. Permission could not be obtained for the use of the dragon from the British Royal East Kent Regiment. It was proposed that the officers and men would wear the same badges.
