Canada. A Netherlands Campaign Royal Canadian Artillery Soldier's Photo Album

This album contains forty-two photographs, all of which are in black and white. It illustrates members of the Royal Canadian Artillery as they pass through the Netherlands. Featured are soldiers at rest and at play, in both small and large groups (one of which shows a group of seven drinking beer), captured German soldiers, tanks, armoured vehicles, a wingless aircraft, various boxed equipment, streets scenes, homes, bombed out buildings, a sign placed beside an entranceway inscribed in Dutch "Schuilplaats" (Hideout), a sign beside the road inscribed in French "Sortie du Nord au de La Belgique" (Exit from North to Belgium), two rows of erected restrictive fencing, a windmill, along with cows in the field as well as being milked. It concludes with two family photos: one with a trio of headshots of a mother with her daughter and son, the other with the same mother, daughter and son with their husband/father. The album has sixteen two-sided pages, with a vellum insert between each, the majority of the photos occupying the first six pages, the remaining pages left blank, measuring 250 mm (w) x 173 mm (h) x 15 mm (d). The exterior of the album has experienced wear and tear, however, the photographs remain pristine. Very fine.
