FENIAN RAID 1866 (Pte. Wm. Prout, Oshawa Rifle Co.). Naming is officially impressed. Replacement ribbon, light contact, better than very fine. Accompanied by a Studio Photograph of William Prout (black and white photo on the obverse, studio marked "J.E. HOITT'S Fine Art Gallery, KING STREET, (East) OSHAWA, C.W." on the reverse, card-mounted, 62 mm x 100 mm).

Footnote: William John Prout is shown on the roll of the 28 man Bowmanville Rifle Company and is listed on page 151 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll of the 45th West Durham Battalion of Infantry (Bowmanville) as having been posted to Bowmanville from March 1 to 18, 1866.
