Canada, Great Britain; 1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1866 (Pte. J.W. Gorham. H.V.B.). Naming is officially impressed. Original ribbon, re-silvered and exhibiting scattered silvering wear, bruised, contact marks, very fine.

Footnote: Private John William Gorham is shown on the roll of the 97 man Halifax Volunteer Battalion (63rd Battalion, Scottish Rifles) and is listed on page 191 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted to Halifax, Nova Scotia from June 6 to July 31, 1866, with the notation "Owing to a withdrawal of a portion of the troops, we were ordered out for garrison duty".
