A First War British War Medal to the Saskatchewan Regiment - (3354466 PTE. J.L. SCHURR. S.R.). Naming is officially impressed. Light contact, cleaned, better than very fine. Accompanied by a copy of his Particulars of Recruit Drafted Under Military Service Act 1917 Paper, along with his CEF Particulars of Service Record from the Public Archives of Canada (dated June 11, 1975).   Footnote: Joseph Lenord Schurr was born on March 14, 1895 in Kohler, Ontario. He was a resident of Eston, Saskatchewan when he signed his Particulars of Recruit Drafted Under Military Service Act 1917, on July 6, 1918 with the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the age of 23, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Joseph Schurr of Dundurn, Saskatchewan, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was Single and that his trade was that of Farmer (his letter and number 487421 LC. under the Military Service Act). Schurr embarked for Britain on September 10, 1918 and upon arrival, was transferred to the 15th Reserve Battalion. He returned to Canada on June 17, 1919 and was honourably discharged on the 21st. Schurr died on November 8, 1961 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the age of 70.
