A Second War Group to Pipe Major Swain; Copper Cliff Highlanders- 1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; Defence Medal; Canadian Volunteer Service Medal; 1939-45 War Medal 1939-1945; and Efficiency Decoration, George VI, Canada suspension clasp with pinback (P/MAJ. R.J. SWAIN). Naming is officially engraved on the ED. Un-mounted, light contact, residue in the recessed areas of the Stars from cleaning, very fine. Accompanied by two Identification Tags (bakelite, round, stamped "MAJ. SWAIN R.J. C.E. CDN.", 35 mm each, on a full-length neck chain), a No. 765 Copper Cliff Highlanders Cap Badge c. 1940 (white metal, 51 mm x 60.5 mm), a Copper Cliff Highlanders Cadet Corps Shoulder Flash (yellow embroidered lettering on forest green wool, paper backer, 33 mm x 117 mm) and two Crown Sleeve Insignia (bronze gilt, maroon velvet insets, 26 mm x 26 mm each, intact lugs), along with a copy of a magazine article (dated June 1954). Footnote: Captain R.J. "Bob" Swain was one of six Second World War veterans who spoke briefly during the V-J Day service at Memorial Community Hall in Copper Cliff, Ontario, as documented on page 15 of the Inco Triangle, September 1945 Issue. The others who spoke included: Sergeant A. Stemp, Stoker 1st Class Morley Barnes, Lieutenant D. Stemp, Flight Lieutenant Cameron Shortts and Stoker Petty Officer Bill Birney. As a Pipe Major, Swain led the Copper Cliff Highlanders Cadet Corps to its third consecutive Strathcona trophy in 1954, the provincial proficiency championship, the first time that the feat had been accomplished in the trophy's history to that date. The Copper Cliff Highlanders Cadet Corps were from Copper Cliff, Ontario and were formed in July 1918 and disbanded in January 1993. In October 1953, Swain received an Inco towns lawn and garden award: Copper Cliff Class I for his property at 23 Nickel Street.
