Defence Medal; Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Clasp; War Medal 1939-1945; and GRVI Memorial Cross (P.O. J.A. McINTOSH J28869). Naming on the MC is engraved, the three Second War medals are in their boxes of issue and are un-named as issued. Un-mounted, original ribbons, extremely fine. Also included are the Memorial Card Accompanying the three Second War Medals (printed in red and black inks, on an off-white paper stock, named to "P/O John A. MCINTOSH", 80 mm x 128 mm); the Memorial Card Accompanying the Memorial Cross (printed in black ink on a white card stock, 56 mm x 83 mm); his Identification Tag (two-piece construction, silver and enamelled insignia, mounted a oval silver base, obverse engraved "R.170714 J.A. McINTOSH", reverse marked "STERLING" and maker marked "ECCO", 22 mm x 37.5 mm, with independent wrist chain); two RCAF Sweetheart Navigator Wings (first wing is sterling silver, hallmarked and marked "STERLING" on the reverse, 19.7 mm x 55 mm, horizontal pinback; second wing is sterling silver with twenty-one inset glass stones, maker marked "ANTHONY" and marked "STERLING" on the reverse, 16.5 mm x 37 mm, horizontal pinback); a Village of Forest Hill Roll of Honour (named to "John A. McIntosh", from the "Village of Forest Hill", for "Active Service in World War II", dated November 11, 1946, signed in black ink by both the Reeve and Clerk, printed by Alexander & Cable of Toronto, in black, red, green and gold-coloured inks, on a cream-coloured card stock, with the Village of Forest Hill embossed gold seal, 307 mm x 408 mm); a Village of Forest Hill Remembrance Day Service Programme (four pages plus insert, printed in black ink on a light brown paper stock, dated Sunday, November 19, 1946 and identifying McIntosh on the insert, 152 mm x 220 mm). and three Photographs (Group of Twenty-One in Front of a Plane: black and white, matte finish, with McIntosh third from the right in the back row, 122 mm x 170 mm; McIntosh in Uniform and Wearing His Navigator's Wing: black and white, gloss finish, 97 mm x 150 mm; and Grave Marker: black and white, semi-gloss finish, inscribed in blue ink "Based in Chester, Wales" on the reverse, 102 mm x 158 mm); 
 
Footnote: J/28869 Pilot Officer (Navigator) John Alexander McIntosh, Royal Canadian Air Force was born on February 17, 1917 and was a resident of the village of Forest Hill, Ontario. He was one of a crew of four aboard No. 9 AFU Anson EF953, along with J/35241 Pilot Officer (Navigator) John William Butcher, Royal Canadian Air Force, 1376327 Sergeant (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner) Henry John Noy, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and 159875 Pilot Officer (Pilot) Frederick Roger Bullock, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, which departed Royal Air Force Llandwrog station and crashed into Bwlch-y-Llan mountain at 1,000 feet, near Barmouth, North Wales, on December 26, 1943, killing all aboard, the damage to the airplane deemed as "written off" (damaged beyond repair). J/28869 Pilot Officer John Alexander McIntosh, RCAF died at the age of 26 and is buried in Chester (Blacon) Cemetery, Cheshire, United Kingdom, Grave Reference: Sec. A. Grave 766. He is commemorated on page 190 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance. A Remembrance Day Service of Thanksgiving and Re-dedication was held on Sunday, November 10, 1946 at Grace Church On-the-Hill in Forest Hill, to honour the seventy men from the village who gave their lives during the war, one of which was McIntosh. J/35241 Pilot Officer (Navigator) John William Butcher, RCAF, the son of Herbert Harry Butcher and Elizabeth Grey Butcher of Brantford and husband of Betty Eilene Butcher of Brantford, died at the age of 22. He is buried in the same cemetery as McIntosh, Sec. A. Grave 856 and is commemorated on page 142 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance. 1376327 Sergeant (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner) Henry John Noy, RAFVR, the son Henry William Noy and Daisy Dorothy Noy of St. John's Wood, London, England, died at the age of 30, and is buried in East Finchley Cemetery, Section W4. Grave 111. 159875 Pilot Officer (Pilot) Frederick Roger Bullock, RAFVR, the son of Thomas George Bullock and Edith Maria Bullock of Easton-in-Gordano, England, died at the age of 21 and is buried in Easton-in-Gordano (St. George) Churchyard.
