British War Medal - 75th Infantry Battalion - (787123 A. SJT. W. SLOAN. 75-CAN. INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Very crisp detail, light contact, dark patina, original ribbon, near extremely fine. Footnote: William Sloan was born September 16, 1871 in Blythe, Huron County, Ontario. He signed his Attestation Paper on February 15, 1916 with the 130th Battalion in Perth, Ontario, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was married to Mrs. William Sloan of Perth and that his trade was that of Doctor of Medicine. The Battalion was raised in the Countries of Lanark and Renfrew with mobilization headquarters at Perth, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. The Battalion sailed September 27, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.F. de Hertel with a strength of 25 officers and 573 other ranks.
