Footnote: Clifford Jennings was born in Shipley, Yorkshire, England on September 5, 1889. Prior to enlisting he lived in Toronto with his parents and was employed as a finisher. He was drafted on January 7, 1918, under the Military Service Act. He was assigned to the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Central Ontario Regiment. He embarked for England on the SS Lapland on February 13, 1918and trained for four months there. He was sent to France in mid August of 1918wiht the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp. He was assigned to the 19th Canadian Infantry Battalion on September 6 1918, arriving in the field nine days later. His casualty form indicates he was “Wounded to F[ield] A[mbulance]” and “Killed in Action” on the same day, November 10, 1918. He is buried in Mons Communal Cemetery, Belgium.
