Canada, CEF. A War Medal To Private William Arthur Lawson, No.2 Construction (the ‘Black Battalion’)
Silver Medal bearing 1914-1918 on obverse with bust of King George V on reverse, inscribed “2356803 PTE W A LAWSON CFC [Canadian Forestry Corps]” along the bottom, measuring at 36.1mm (w) x 45.9mm (h-to top of suspension) and weighing 34.6 grams, with original ribbon, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Private Lawson, born 1899 in Wellington County, Ontario, was described with a Black complexion upon enlistment in 1918.
