Footnote: Donald James Gibson was the son of George B. Gibson and Harriet Winifred Gibson of Swastika, Ontario, Gibson himself listed as being from Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He was with #101 Squadron R.A.F. (Mens Agitat Molem) when he took off from Ludford Magna, and later declared Killed in Action on December 16, 1943, at the age of 43, when his Lancaster aircraft # DV 299 failed to return from night operations against Berlin, Germany. Six of the crew, not Canadians, were also missing and believed killed. Flight Sergeant Bomb Aimer Gibson has no known grave. His name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial at Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey, England, panel 181. Gibson is commemorated on page 163 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.
