Canada, Dominion. A South African Service Canada's Brave Boys Welcome Home Medal 1900
In silvered white metal, obverse illustrating a woman reaching out to rifle bearing soldier, with a dog pawing at the soldier's right leg, a door behind the woman and a picket fence behind the soldier, reverse illustrating a downward-pointing sword, fronted by a wreath of laurel leaves, inscribed "SOUTH AFRICA 1900" around the handle of the sword, a dove below with a ribbon banner in its mouth inscribed "WELCOME HOME", surrounded by the inscription "CANADA'S BRAVE BOYS" and maker marked "P.W. ELLIS & Co. TORONTO", measuring 34.3 mm in diameter, suspended from a 30.8 mm (w) x 20.5 mm (h) hanger with pinback, the hanger bearing a maple leaf fronting crossed swords and surmounted by the Victoria crown, with a ribbon banner inscribed "CANADA AFRICA 1899 1900", extremely fine.
