British War Medal (1006989 A. SJT. R.R. RODEN. C.R.T.); Victory Medal (British War Medal (1006989 A. SJT. R.R. RODEN. C.R.T.); Canadian Volunteer Service Medal; and War Medal 1939-1945. Naming is officially impressed on the First World War pair, the Second World War pair are un-named as issued. Court-mounted with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, original ribbons, lacquered, light contact, better than very fine. Accompanied by a copy of his Attestation Paper. Footnote: Richard Regnal Roden was born on July 26, 1893 in Toronto, Ontario. He was a resident of Toronto when he signed his Attestation as a Private (1006989) with the 228th Infantry Battalion "Northern Fusiliers", on October 26, 1916 in Toronto, at the age of 23, naming his next-of-kin as his father, James Alfred Roden of Toronto, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Clerk with a Trust Company. The Battalion was raised in Northern Ontario with mobilization headquarters at North Bay under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed February 16, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel A, Earchman with a strength of 31 officers and 756 other ranks. The Battalion served in France as the 6th Battalion, Canadian Railway Troops, with Roden later achieving the rank of Acting Sergeant. For his First World War service, he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He later served during the Second World War and for his service during the war, he was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945.
