Footnote: George Henry Willan was born on December 15, 1896 in Suffolk, England. He was a resident of Guelph, Ontario when he signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (928075) with the 153rd Infantry Battalion "Wellington Battalion", on December 7, 1915 in Guelph, Ontario, at the age of 18, one week shy of his nineteenth birthday, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Francis Willan of Manchester, England, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Farmer. He was later transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Brigade and survived the war.
