A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 2497531 SPR. R. SIMPSON. C.R.T, worn on correct ribbon, very dark patina, very small edge knocks, in very fine condition.
Footnote: Robert Simpson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in November 1872. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a cement finisher and served for two years in the P.P.C.L.I. He enlisted with the Canadian Railway troops on May 26, 1917, with his medical examination noting that his vision was poor. He landed in France in November 1917. On August 10, 1918, he was discharged as he was considered physically unfit following the deterioration of his eyesight.
