A First War Medal Pair to the 19th Canadian Infantry Battalion - British War Medal (853373 PTE. N.R. WILSON. 19-CAN.INF.) ; and Victory Medal (853373 PTE. N.R. WILSON. 19-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, original ribbons, dark patina and edge nicks on the BWM, residue in the recessed areas of the naming on the VM from cleaning, very light contact, near extremely fine. Footnote: Norman Richard Wilson was born on December 18, 1882 in Sturgeon Bay, Ontario. He was a resident of Waubaushene, Ontario when he signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (853373) with the 177th Infantry Battalion "Simcoe Foresters", on April 11, 1916 in Waubaushene, at the age of 33, naming his next-of-kin as his wife, Phoebe Wilson of Waubaushene, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was Married and that his trade was that of Labourer. The Battalion was raised in Simcoe County, Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Barrie under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916. The Battalion sailed May 3, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.B.McPhee with a strength of 19 officers and 549 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 3rd Reserve Battalion. Private Norman Richard Wilson survived the war.
