A First War Medal Pair to the 2nd Canadian Infantry - British War Medal (183933 PTE. C. HILTON. 2-CAN.INF.); and Victory Medal (183933 PTE. C. HILTON. 2-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, green oxidation evident on the VM, light contact, better than very fine. Footnote: Charles Hilton was born on April 28, 1891 in Lancashire, England. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private, the Battalion not identified on the paper but possibly the 50th Infantry Battalion, on April 29, 1915, at the age of 24, in Calgary Alberta, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mrs. S.J. Crowder of Tyldesley, England, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Miner. He later joined the 2nd Infantry Battalion in the French theatre.
