A First War Medal Trio to the 25th Canadian Infantry - 1914-15 Star (67317 Pte H. O’CONNELL. 25/CAN:INF:); British War Medal (67317 PTE. H. O’CONNELL. 25-CAN.INF.); and Victory Medal (67317 PTE. H. O’CONNELL. 25-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Court-mounted, very dark patina on the BWM, bruising, edge nicks, better than fine. Accompanied by a CEF For Service At The Front Badge (bronze and enamels, numbered "157213" on the reverse, 22.7 mm, screwback). Footnote: Harold O’Connell was born on July 12, 1896 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He signed his Attestation Paper with the 25th Infantry Battalion "Victoria Rifles", on November 15, 1914 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 18, naming his next-of-kin as George O'Connell, stating that he had enrolled for military service at Yarmouth and was two years at Camp at Aldershot, Nova Scotia, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Mill Hand. The Battalion was raised in Nova Scotia and mobilized in Halifax under the authority of G.O. 36, March 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed May 20, 1915 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel G.A. LeCain with a strength of 42 officers and 1,081 other ranks. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Division.
