A First War Pair to the 2nd Depot Battery British Columbia Regiment - British War Medal (2137430 PTE. A.E. ABBOTT. 29-CAN.INF.); and Victory Medal (2137430 PTE. A.E. ABBOTT. 29-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, edge nicks on the BWM, light contact, very fine. Footnote: Alfred Edwin Abbott was born on February 20, 1893 in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, England. He signed his Attestation Paper with the 2nd Depot Battery, British Columbia Regiment, on September 18, 1917 in Victoria, British Columbia, at the age of 24, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mrs E. Abbott of Wollaston, stating that he had previous service with the 3rd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment in 1910 and with the Canadian Engineers in 1913, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Shoemaker. On his Attestation Paper, he stated his name as "Jack Savage", which was later acknowledged to be an alias. He was later transferred to the 29th Infantry Regiment.
