A WWI Medal Pair to the 7th Canadian Infantry CEF; British War Medal (464645 PTE. J.A. MC KINNON. 7-CAN.INF.); and Victory Medal (464645 PTE. J.A. MC KINNON. 7-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, tarnishing evident on the BWM, contact marks and gilt wear on the VM, very fine. Footnote: Joseph Andrew McKinnon was born on November 3, 1889 in Tignish, Prince Edward Island. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private with the 62nd Infantry Battalion "British Columbia Battalion", on February 9, 1916, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 26, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Ellen McKinnon of Vernon, British Columbia, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Musician. The Battalion was raised in Southern British Columbia under the authority of G.O. 103A, August 15, 1915. The mobilization headquarters was at Vancouver, British Columbia. The Battalion sailed March 23, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J. Hulme with a strength of 36 officers and 1,037 other ranks. The Battalion was absorbed into the 30th Reserve Battalion in England, with McKinnon later joining the 7th Infantry Battalion "1st British Columbia Regiment" as a reinforcement in the French theatre.
