Two Canadian First War Victory Medals - Acting Sergeant Arthur Bage, Canadian Engineers: (1024007 A. SJT. A. BAGE. C.E.): and Acting Sergeant James Clifford Snowdon, Canadian Garrison Artillery (2085399 A. SJT. J.C. SNOWDON. C.G.A.). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, light contact and gilt wear, better than very fine.(C:28) Footnote: Arthur Bage was born on December 4, 1882 in Sheffield, England. He was a resident of Toronto, Ontario when he signed his Attestation Paper as a Corporal (1024007) with the 234th Infantry Battalion "Peel Battalion", on May 10, 1916 in West Toronto, at the age of 33, naming his next-of-kin as his wife, Leslie Bage of Toronto, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was Married and that his trade was that of Fireman. The Battalion was raised in Central Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Toronto under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916. The Battalion sailed April 18, 1917 under the the command of Lieutenant-Colonel W. Wallace with a strength of 15 officers and 279 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 12th Reserve Battalion. Bage was later transferred to the Canadian Engineers. James Clifford Snowdon was born on July 15, 1895 in Montreal, Quebec. He was a resident of Montreal when he signed his Attestation Paper with the 3rd Overseas Draft Heavy & Siege Artillery at the Mobilization Centre, Military District No. 4 in Montreal (2085399), on May 22, 1917, at the age of 21, naming his next-of-kin as his father, James W. Snowdon of Montreal, stating that he had previous service with an Active Militia, the 58th Westmount Rifles, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Clerk. Snowdon was later posted to the Canadian Garrison Artillery. Both men survived the war.
