WWI Canadian Pair to the Army Service Corps - British War Medal (511851 PTE. R. PAYNE. C.A.S.C.); and Victory Medal (511851 PTE. R. PAYNE. C.A.S.C.). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, original ribbons, cleaned, light contact, better than very fine.Footnote: Russell Payne was born in 1897 in Kingston, Ontario. He signed his Attestation Paper on January 1, 1916 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 18, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mrs. Maggie Payne of Kingston, stating that he had one years' previous military service with No. 3 Company, Canadian Army Service Corps, that he belonged to an Active Militia with the CASC, that he was Single and that his trade was that of Fitter. The Canadian Army Service Corps was charged with supplying the forces with transportation, food and workshops.
