A Canadian Peacekeeping Service Group - Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal; United Nations UNFICYP Medal, Cyprus (1964- ); Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee Medal 1977; and Canadian Forces' Decoration, QEII, with Ten Years' Additional Service Clasp (WO E J R DENNIS). Naming is officially engraved on the edge of the CFD. Court-mounted, original ribbons, triple push pins on the reverse, extremely fine. Accompanied by copies of his Service Records.   Footnote: Ernest James Robert Dennis enlisted on September 17, 1958 as a Guardsman with the Canadian Guards, at No. 6 Personnel Depot in Toronto, Ontario. Six days later, he was posted to the Canadian Guards Depot at Camp Petawawa on September 23rd, joining No. 1 Canadian Guards on March 11, 1959. Dennis embarked Canada on October 4, 1959 for service with the Canadian Army in Central Europe, arriving in Germany on the 5th. He was re-mustered from Standard Group to Leading Infantryman Group 1 on March 17, 1960 and awarded his first Good Conduct Badge on September 19, 1960. He qualified as an Infantryman Attack Gunner Group 1 on December 20, 1960, followed five months later by his qualification as an Infantryman Attack Gunner Group 2 on May 5, 1961. He was re-mustered from Leading Infantryman Group 1 to Infantryman Attack Gunner Group 2 on September 17, 1961 and re-engaged for two years' service two days later, on September 19th. Dennis was appointed to the rank of Lance Corporal on February 27, 1962. After three years' service in Central Europe, he returned to Canada on September 10, 1962 and was taken on strength from the No. 1 Canadian Guards and posted to the National Defence College at Kingston, Ontario, where he was named a Lance Corporal, on September 11th. He was transferred to No. 1 Canadian Guards at Picton, Ontario, as a Guardsman on April 1, 1963, then returned to the National Defence College at Kingston, as a Lance Corporal, on April 3, 1963. He re-joined No. 1 Canadian Guards for a third time, on August 7, 1963, at Picton, where he re-engaged for three years' service on September 19th and qualified as an Infantryman Signalman Group 1 and Group 2 on February 20, 1964, returning to the rank of Guardsman on August 1, 1964. Dennis embarked Canada on October 3, 1964 for peacekeeping service in Cyprus with the United Nations forces, arriving there on the 4th and was awarded the UNFICYP Medal on November 2nd. After six months service in Cyprus, he returned to Canada on April 8, 1965 and was re-posted to Picton. He re-engaged for five years' service on September 19, 1966, was promoted to Corporal on October 1st and attended the Infantryman Communicator Group 3 (Prov) Course on December 1st. He was transferred to No. 2 Canadian Guards at Picton on October 1, 1968, posted to Petawawa on December 1st, preparing to ship out for a second tour of duty in Central Europe with the 2nd Royal Canadian Regiment, embarking on December 2nd. After seven months in Central Europe, he returned to Canada on July 1, 1970 and posted to No. 3 Mechanized Commando at Camp Borden, where he was awarded his Canadian Forces' Decoration on September 16th. Through the 1970s, he continued to serve at CFB Petawawa beginning in January 1972, CFB Esquimalt effective August 1972, posted to HMCS Chaudiere at Esquimalt on October 16, 1972, to HMCS Saskatchewan at Esquimalt on May 24, 1974, then to the Royal Roads Military College in Victoria on May 14, 1975, where he was named a Sergeant on September 1, 1975. Two years later, he was posted to HMCS Mackenzie at Esquimalt on December 1, 1977 and named a L/Warrant Officer on September 1, 1978 and a Warrant Officer on September 14, 1978. He returned to CFB Borden on April 30, 1980. Dennis was released from active service on September 7, 1982.
