George VI (L.54695 Cfn. J.D. LOEWEN). Naming is officially engraved. Light contact, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, George VI crown on the lid, sympathy card enclosed, case better than very fine. Footnote: John Dietrich Loewen was born on April 12, 1919, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Heinrich Loewen, of Lawson, Saskatchewan and was the husband of Isabelle V. Loewen of Toronto, Ontario. He was serving as a Craftsman with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during the Second World War when he died on July 7, 1944, at the age of 25. He is remembered with honour on the Saskatchewan War Memorial, Fifth Pillar, Column 23, in Regina, Saskatchewan.
