WWII Group to Lance Corporal Holland - 1939-1945 Star; France and Germany Star; Defence Medal; Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Clasp; and War Medal 1939-1945. Crisp detail, three medals are plated, original ribbons, court-mounted, with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, light contact, very fine. Accompanied by his Canadian Army Soldier's Pay Book with five additional Pay Books, his Named Duffle Bag (white canvas with drawstring, "B-110156 L/cpl. Holland.W.J. 762 CD/MD 2" on one side, "CD 762 MD-2 TA260" on the other and "B-110156" on the bottom), one 2nd Canadian Corps Patch, three Canadian Provost Corps Shoulder Flashes, two Good Conduct Chevrons, a C.M.P. 21 Army Group Awareness Card, a black and white Photograph in a Three-Panel Folder, a newspaper article, a letter from home, an address book, a Souvenir 12-Panel Folder of Nijmegen, Netherlands and copies of his Service Records and Discharge Certificate. Footnote: Wilfred James Holland was with the Lorne Scots when he was taken on strength at No. 2 District Depot, Toronto, Ontario on March 13, 1942. He left for overseas service in the United Kingdom on July 20, 1942, where he was for almost two years, before embarking on June 16, 1944 and disembarking in France on the 18th. He spent eighteen months in North West Europe before disembarked in the United Kingdom on December 10, 1945. While still in the United Kingdom, he achieved the rank of L./Corporal on January 9, 1946. Holland was discharged from service on February 23, 1946 at No. 2 District Depot. (COM859)
