United Kingdom. A Canada General Service Medal 1866-1870, Fergus Rifle Company
1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1866 (Pte. W.H. Lingwood, Fergus R. Co.). Naming is officially impressed. Semi-dark patina, indentation on Queen Victoria's cheek, bruised, contact marks, original ribbon, better than fine.
Footnote: Private William Herbert Lingwood is shown on the roll of the 35 man Fergus Rifle Company (AKA Fergus Infantry Company), 30th Wellington Battalion and is listed on page 176 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted to Sarnia, Ontario, from June 2 to July 1866, with an "Attack Expected".
