A Canada General Service Medal 1866-1870 & Shooting Medal to the Roxham Infantry Company
1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1866 (Pte. W.H. Hobbs Roxham I.Co.). Naming is officially impressed. Original ribbon, tarnished, contact marks, very fine. Accompanied by a Victoria Rifles of Canada Shooting Fob (three-piece construction, silver, hand engraved design on the obverse, dual hallmarked and maker marked "TAA" on the reverse, 35.3 mm x 43 mm).
Footnote: Private William H. Hobbs is shown on the roll of the 18 man Roxham Infantry Company and is listed on page 246 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented as having been posted to Hemmingford and Huntingdon, Quebec from June 1 to June 21, 1866, with an "attack expected".
