He is documented on the roll of the Toronto Garrison and Field Battery, St. Catharines Garrison Battery as having been posted to Toronto, Ontario, guarding stores and guns, from March 8 to May 3, 1866, with an "Attack Expected", his surname recorded with a lower case "p".
