Footnote: Henry Fricker was born on March 7, 1849 in England and immigrated to Canada in 1865, already a member of the 1st Battalion of the Rifle Brigade. Pte Fricker was in Hamilton during the Fenian Raid of 1866 when the Battle of Ridgeway took place, however his level of involvement is unknown. His name is listed on page 46 of the “Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-1870” by John Thyen. He was among 19 other veterans of the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade who resided in Hamilton following military service. By 1881, Fricker was employed as a bricklayer, and had his first child with his wife, Rosa. Later, in 1901, he and his family of 5 lived in Toronto West and Fricker was employed as a driller in a factory.
