WWI British War Medal to the Canadian Railway Troops - (658035 SPR. H.W. MURDOCK. C.R.T.). Naming is officially impressed. Light contact, near extremely fine.Footnote: Harry Wilburn Murdock was born on August 13, 1899 in South River, Ontario. He signed his Attestation Paper with the 162nd Infantry Battalion "Parry Sound Battalion" on June 11, 1916 in South River, at the age of 16, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Annie Murdock of South River, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Lumberman. The Battalion was raised and mobilized in Parry Sound, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 151, December 2, 1915. The Battalion sailed November 1, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J. Arthurs with a strength of 37 officers and 776 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was broken up and absorbed into the 3rd and 4th Reserve Battalions. Murdock was later transferred to Canadian Railway Troops as a Sapper.
