WWII Canadian Group to Captain Gilbert of the Midland Regiment - Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Clasp; War Medal 1939-1945; and Canadian Forces' Decoration, ERII (CAPT G.F. GILBERT). Naming is officially engraved on the rim of the CFD. Mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, the CFD having been added as an extension after the fact, dark patinas on the silver medals, original ribbons, light contact, near extremely fine. Accompanied by the Case for the CFD (hardshelled, Canadian coat-of-arms on the lid, named on the bottom to "Capt G.F. GILBERT", 61 mm x 109 mm), three Ribbon Bars (two ribbons: CVSM with Maple Leaf Clasp and WM; one ribbon: CVSM with Maple Leaf Clasp, pinback; one ribbon: CFD), two Midland Regiment Collar Tabs (brass, maker marked "W SCULLY LTD MONTREAL" on their reverses, 31.3 mm x 44 mm each, intact lugs), two Canada Shoulder Titles (brass, unmarked, 7.2 mm x 36.2 mm each, intact lugs), a Kiska Invasion Insignia Patch (three-colour embroidery, worn by both American and Canadian forces, displaying the downward pointing amphibious dagger in white and black, with a blue background and white circular border, 51 mm), two Embroidered Pips (two-colour embroidery on black wool, padded, reinforced burlap backers, 24.5 mm x 24.5 mm each), a Photograph of Gilbert in Uniform (black and white, matte finish, inscribed in pencil "Cpt. Gordon F. Gilbert Midland Regt" on the reverse, 76 mm x 101 mm), a Toronto Evening Telegram Article Entitled "OTC (Officers' Training Camp) on Vancouver Island" (dated Monday, January 4, 1943, with Gilbert in the photo at the lower right with two others, attending a class on Tommy gun) and five Photo Album Pages (with seventeen black and white photographs, a Royal Canadian Air Force Christmas and New Years Dinner 1939-1940 Menu, two Midland Regiment Sergeants' Mess Dinner Tickets (dated Sunday, July 27th, 1941), a Midland Regiment Dance Invitation addressed to "CQMS Gilbert & Lady", along with a Newspaper Article entitled "14 Ontario Grads in Army Courses" (listing Gilbert as one of the graduates) all pasted into position).
