In browning copper, voided, maker marked "J.R. GAUNT LONDON" on the reverse, measuring 28 mm (w) x 45.8 mm (h), both lugs intact, extremely fine.
Footnote: The 14th Infantry Battalion was raised from the Royal Montreal Regiment and mobilized at Camp Valcartier, Quebec under the authority of P.C.O. 2067, August 6, 1914. The Battalion sailed with a strength of 46 officers and 1,097 other ranks under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel F.J. Meighen on October 3, 1914. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division. The Battalion was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
