Type I with Fleur-de-Lis. In browning copper, voided, maker marked "BIRKS 1916" on the reverse, measuring 40.3 mm (w) x 49 mm (h), both lugs intact, scattered wear on the insignia, greening evident on the reverse, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Eastern Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Ottawa under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916. The Battalion sailed January 23, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel R. de Salaberry with a strength of 18 officers and 687 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the Canadian Forestry Corps. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
