One is Type I with "Canada" Scroll, small "48" and is right-facing, the other is Type II with "Canada" Scroll, large "48" and is left-facing. In browning copper, voided, unmarked, measuring 27.8 mm (w) x 33.5 mm (h) each, both lugs intact on both badges, the former with a pin, contact marks on the latter. Together, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Ontario and Quebec and mobilized at Camp Valcartier, Quebec under the authority of P.C.O. 2067, August 6, 1914. The Battalion sailed October 3, 1914 with a compliment of 44 officers and 1,109 other ranks under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.A. Currie. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division. The Battalion was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
