Canada, Commonwealth. A Second War Mark I Helmet, by General Steel Ware 1941
In steel, non-magnetic, with a greenish-brown finish, the helmet with a protective edge, inside with a steel-framed cradle supporting a black rubberized liner, underside of the liner with a canvas support, four wedge-shaped rubber pads against the sidewall, cross-shaped rubber pad secured in place to a cross-shaped metal fixture in the dome, marked "MK1" (Mark 1), the date "1941" and stamped with the maker "GSW" (General Steel Ware of Toronto, Ontario) on the underside at the rear, steel brackets with loops riveted in place on either side and housing a soiled khaki canvas strap with a black finished adjustable buckle, measuring 290 mm in width x 300 mm in depth x 100 mm in height. The helmet is free of dents, the liner intact with dabs of white paint on one side, exhibiting moderate contact marks on the exterior, with dirt evident on the interior from storage. Fine.
