What's a max bid?

Four-piece construction, in silver, obverse with a Queen's crown on the centrepiece, with "D R A" inscribed on the arms at 12, 9 and 3 o'clock respectively, along with "CANADA" on the arm at o'clock, crossed rifles above the cross, reverse engraved in running script "Dominion Prize / Private Warner / 14th Battalion V.M. / 1868", measuring 45 mm (w) x 59 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, very light contact, replacement ribbon wrapped around a cardboard support, near extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The 14th Battalion, Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada originated on January 16, 1863, the headquarters in Kingston, Ontario with companies in Kingston and Portsmouth. It was re-designated as the 14th Battalion, The Princess of Wales’ Own Rifles on June 12, 1868. The 14th Battalion, The Princess of Wales’ Own Rifles was re-designated as the 14th Regiment, The Princess of Wales’ Own Rifles on May 8, 1900. It was later re-designated as The Kingston Regiment (The Princess of Wales’ Own) on March 15, 1920; and re-designated as The Princess of Wales’ Own Regiment on April 1, 1921. It was amalgamated with A Company, The Frontenac Regiment and “A” Company, 4th Machine Gun Battalion, CMGC and redesignated as The Princess of Wales’ Own Regiment (Machine Gun) on December 15, 1936, and re-designated as The Princess of Wales’ Own Regiment on April 1, 1946.
