Footnote: Albert Edward Moore was born on February 21, 1894 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. He signed his Attestation Paper on July 12, 1915 with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade, 20th Battery, stating that he had no previous military experience, that he was not married and that his occupation was that of Rancher. He arrived in Plymouth, England aboard the S.S. Metegama on August 18, 1915, later embarking for France and arriving at Le Havre, on January 19, 1916. Moore was awarded a Good Conduct Badge on July 12, 1917. He was wounded in action on November 1, 1917, spending two weeks in hospital. He was again hospitalized in January 1919, forfeiting his field allowance and was placed under stoppage of pay at the rate of fifty cents per day while he was in hospital from the 6th to the 27th. He embarked for Canada on June 18, 1919, where he was discharged upon demobilization at Regina, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1919, stating that he planned to make his residence in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan after the war. Moore was cited in the London Gazette of July 18, 1917 for his Military Medal while at Farbus Wood, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at FARBUS on May 3rd. During the operations Dvr. MOORE, A.E. and Gnr. MEERS, E.W. continuously went through a very heavy enemy barrage in order to discover and mend breaks in the lines. Their excellent work enabled this Battery to engage many opportunity targets and assist in breaking up counter attacks which would not have been possible but for the great courage and coolness displayed by these two men."
