What's a max bid?

D.NOLAN. 3-CAN.INF) with Mentioned in Dispatches, officially impressed; Meritorious Service Medal (63676 S.MJR. D.NOLAN. 1/C.ONT.R.) Accompanied by extensive research and official records from the National Archives of Canada. Footnote: David Nolan, born 1889 in Ireland, enlisted in the CEF (26th Battalion) in Montreal on November 3rd 1914. After being promoted to Sergeant in March 1915, he was transferred to the 3rd Battalion that May. With the 3rd, he saw action at the Battle of Festubert, Second Givenchy, and R.E.Farm. After being promoted to CSM he took part in the Battle of Mount Sorrell where he was severely wounded in the left thigh by shrapnel. He would be discharged from hospital in September 1916 and return to the 3rd that October. Promoted to RSM in November, he would be mentioned in despatches (London; Gazette 2nd January 1917). In August 1917, at Hill 70 he would be gassed as well as suffer a gunshot wound to the right shoulder. It was this action where he would be awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in getting the battalion rations to the front line though 50 percent of his ration party were knocked out by a barrage. He himself was wounded. (Awarded DCM: London Gazette - Feb 6th 1918) After recovering and discharged from hospital in September 1917, he was posted to the 1st COR Depot. Moreover, that December, a marriage was approved by his C.O. David Nolan would return to Canada in July 1919 and be awarded the MSM on December 23rd 1919. (London Gazette - December 9h 1919) He was discharged on the 29th of September 1920.
