Canadian Forces Decoration to Pilot Officer Clarke Royal Canadian Navy - ERII (PO 1/c W. CLARKE). Naming is officially engraved on the rim. Original ribbon, light contact and gilt wear, near extremely fine. Accompanied by copies of his Service Records and Application for the Award of the Canadian Forces' Decoration. Footnote: 16715-H Pilot Officer 1st Class William Michael Clarke was a Naval Aviator (Observer) in the Royal Canadian Navy, enlisting on Januray 1, 1952 and named his next-of-kin as Sylvia Frances Clarke. He completed a number of qualification courses and was recommended as a good classroom instructor. He served with a variety of East Coast ships and squadrons out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, including: Shearwater, Magnificent, Bonaventure and 31 SAG, VS880 and VS881 and was awarded three Good Conduct Badges (on January 28 of 1955, 1960 and 1965, respectively). Clarke applied for his Canadian Forces' Decoration on February 17, 1964, after having served twelve years in the Royal Canadian Navy and was awarded the CFD later that year. He served for almost fifteen years, from January 1, 1952 to April 1967, later joining the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve, serving aboard the HMCS Scotian, from December 4, 1967 to January 24, 1969.
